Convert MDF files to DGNLIB
by Fred Skrobot, featured on AskInga.com.
If you have custom menus for the BARMENU utility, you can use MDF2XML to convert the MDF files to a DGNLIB that can be utilized with MicroStation XM using the MS_GUIDGNLIBLIST variable.
The procedure to convert the MDF into an XML file and then import it into a DGNLIB is well documented in the MDF2XML download, but the real beauty of this process is how you can further use the MS_GUIDGNLIBLIST variable to control which users see which menus.
For example, by creating different DGNLIBs you can create custom menus for your local office, discipline, projects and users by placing the MS_GUIDGNLIBLIST variable in any of your CFG, PCF and UCF files. Therefore, your local office menus can be in your SITE.CFG file, your project and/or disciple settings can be in your PROJECT.PCF file, and your local user menus can be placed in your USER.UCF file.
